Welcome to BBDiet Dietitian Services. You have received this message from us because you have been referred by your GP from Turbot St Medical Centre or The Butterfly Clinic or medical specialist for dietitian support.
At BBDiet Dietitian Services, we are dedicated to helping you achieve your health and nutrition goals through personalised, evidence-based care. Our team of expert dietitians is here to support you on your journey toward better health, whether you’re managing a medical condition, seeking dietary advice, or simply wanting to build a healthier relationship with food.
Why did my GP refer me to a dietitian? You may have been referred to a dietitian due to a chronic condition like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, prediabetes, diabetes, or fatty liver disease. A dietitian offers evidence-based guidance on managing your health through everyday food choices.
What does a dietitian do? An Accredited Practicing Dietitian is a qualified professional who provides personalized nutrition advice based on your medical condition. Regulated by Dietitians Australia, they ensure evidence-based, ethical care. In a world full of conflicting and confusing nutrition information and myths, they help you find what’s safe and relevant while creating a tailored plan that suits your needs.
What conditions can a dietitian help with? We can assist with a range of medical conditions, including (but not limited to): •Acid reflux / GORD •Blood sugar / cholesterol / pressure control •Bone health / Nutrition deficiencies •Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, gestational, others) •Eating disorder / disordered eating •Endometriosis / PCOS •Food intolerance and allergy •Gastrointestinal issues (IBS, IBD, persistent bloating, abdominal pain, constipation / diarrhoea etc) •Insulin resistance / Pre-diabetes •Kidney / liver / heart conditions •Low energy / fatigue •Poor growth •Thyroid health and conditions •Weight management (gain or loss)
How do Medicare referrals work? If you have a chronic condition, your GP may refer you through a care plan (e.g., Enhanced Primary Care Plan* or Eating Disorder Plan), allowing you to claim a $60.35 Medicare rebate per session. *The Enhanced Primary Care Plan covers up to five allied health visits per year. Claims may be rejected if you've exceeded this limit. A referral is not required to see a dietitian. We also accept private, DVA, and NDIS referrals.
Dietitian Appointment Options
We offer 2 appointment options for you to choose from under your GP referral
1. STANDARD APPOINTMENT (20mins)
A nutrition assessment will be performed. Your dietitian will cover the essential areas to help you get started on your health journey. Your dietitian will assess your medical history, blood test results, eating habits and lifestyle, and then develop a personalised nutrition care plan for you. Review appointments are followed in a week or two or as required.
2. EXTENDED APPOINTMENTS (50-60mins)
If you are looking for more comprehensive dietitian support to help you achieve your health and weight goals, long sessions are highly recommended. We cover all areas comprehensively that may have an impact on your health.
We perform a thorough nutrition assessment based on your medical history, recent blood results, weight history, diet history and eating habits. We also assess other areas including your hormonal health and gut health.
For those who need support with weight management, we also address possible psychological barriers, emotional struggles and disordered eating behaviours as well as stress and lifestyle factors before we put together a personalised nutrition care plan that are specifically tailored to your needs and preferences to achieve your optimal weight and health goals.
You will learn to understand better how to work closely with your body, and not against your body. You will understand better how your body is designed and your body signals work so that you may ditch the diet and start developing a healthy relationship with food. You will learn how to nourish your body from within using all the nourishing foods that are packed with nutrients and start losing weight naturally without counting calories. You will also receive mindset transformation support to help you make sustainable lifestyle changes to lose weight and keep it off for good.
Extended appointments are highly recommended especially for those that require ongoing support for weight management, diabetes management or those have gut issues and other complex health conditions that require longer nutrition assessment and management.
